Apples.... Apples

One of our member mention that we all have problem with painting the apple halo at our previous painting at the Art Club meeting.

We agreed to

practise and post it for comment each day.  Here they are...

At the Golf Club today

I had shrimp jacket potato for lunch, it was delicious.  Hubby had his

English traditional 'fish and chip'.  Actually, we like the food at Golf Club

better than any western restaurant in Al Ain. The food is better quality and

so is the service.  The most important is that no tourist tax

and service charge.  The price is reasonable.  Love it.

Strawberries

I went to the supermarket and bought some strawberries today.  There are not so fresh, it must have been weeks before they could be put on the shelf for sale.  But we have no choice here in the UAE.  I also bought two dragon fruits day before.  They looked reasonably fresh when I bought them, pity that I have to throw it to the bin when opened it.  It is too bad that people here never taste really fresh fruits.  Everything is imported.  I really, miss mangoes from our mango trees.  And others fresh fruits, of course.

Pink pink

I like to paint in pink or any bright color.  But it's some times a mess and becomes rotten :-(  This painting is almost mess again, but I desire to finish it quick.

It is not too bad, is it?

  

Home work

The Indian restuarant called "Bukhara" just few steps from our apartment where we had dinner last night.  The foods were really good, we love it.  Usually we had light

dinner like fruits or salad.  Because the foods were so good, we had too

much that made us feel uncomfortable.  May be we should

have it for lunch instead.

Out door work

This banana was imported from India and sold in local market in UAE.  I found it was difficult to draw it with charcoal.  The bananas were tasteless.

I was able to get 3 pieces of work done this week. 

The stock investment was quite interesting this week.  I was watching from time to time it was exciting.  We got some benefit from it a little.  Emm.. may be enough to buy ticket back home for two on our next summer break :-)

First portrait

Ooh wow...

My first portrait.  It is suppose to be a young girl 5 years of age.  Unfortunately, it's turned out 5 years older look.  Oh well.. I  like the charcoal a little more.  I'm not brave enough to try to add color yet.  I might try it some day soon.

At the souq

Al Ain watercolor club meeting at the vegetable market.  We sketched with charcoal and then in watercolor.  My one in charcoal wasn't good at all. 

One of our members has a nice slipper, we tried it with charcoal and watercolor. 

We didn't realise there were few people in the audience behind us.  Some of them are enthusiatic to be model.  We were probably excited, because every one of us were able to do more work as the result. 

Thai Food today

A white rose for teacher on the Teacher day.

"Kanomjeen Num pha" by Khek @ Khek's house.  Khek called by surprise that she cooked some Thai food if I would like to come by and have it together.  I didn't have to think for a second about saying "yes".  We had lunch and I enjoyed it a lot.  Lucky me.

Nail color

Weekend manicure.

I have IELTS exam proctoring this morning at UAE University.  There are about 200 male and female candidates and about 14 proctors all together.  Every thing went well, only some small mistake like one candidate fill in the wrong side of the answer sheet.  A bit tired at the end.  There will be exam again in next two weeks.

Al Jahili Fort again

Al Jahili Fort.

The weather is nice and cool still.  The group decided to stick to out door painting until the weather is warmer.   We did Fort sketch again because last time some

of us didn't finish the work.  My sketching is a bit better. What I like about

working  out door is that we get together afterward for cup of coffee

and bit of chat for a change.

New restaurant in town

Hubby and I tried a new restaurant in the Al Ain Mall for lunch.  The restaurant called

"Shakespeare restaurant @ Cafe".  Their decoration is beautiful vintage style, it's

beautiful, of course.  There is flower shop attached to it too.  The service

was very nice and friendly.  Hubby order turkey cheese sandwich - he

thought it was a safe order, but he could hardly eat.  It has no taste,

very thin slice of turkey ham.  He gave up half way through and 

share my safest food order in this country which is "pasta".

Very disappointed.

Al Jahili Fort

Al Jahili Fort in the unique oasis city Al Ain.  One of the great landmarks

and symbols of the UAE.

We enjoyed painting in the peaceful place.  I did some lazy sketching

today.  We went to Starbucks, Al Ain Mall  afterwards. 

Had value chat with friends. A chicken cheese

 quiche and hot chocolate are Emm... yum

Al Ain Zoo

Al Ain Zoo is the largest zoo in the UAE and an attractive place to visit.  We

went there from time to time sketching.  This time I did better with

3 sketches, not great but better. 

Flowers in the Paradise Park

This trip was a bit complicated.  The park changed the opening time to late afternoon

without notice.  We're there in the morning and have to get permission from

the manager.  We finally got a special permission to enter.  Good grief!

 what a beautiful park that is full of all kind of flowers.

It's must be very expensive garden.
